Looking for boat diving on The Lizard? We have you covered.
Our main diving boat is the Celtic Kitten, an 8.5 metre power cat which has an electric lift. The Kitten runs as a shuttle, returning between dives for a couple of hours surface interval.
With 5 miles of the dive centre we have hundreds of shipwrecks and reefs making Porthkerris one of the best dive locations in Cornwall (and maybe even the UK).
On our doorstep with have The Manacles reef, one of the most notorious maritime hazards in Cornwall, responsible for dozens of shipwrecks over several centuries. Stretching offshore from the eastern side of the Lizard Peninsula, the reef system includes pinnacles such as Vase Rock and Raglan Reef, where vessels were often driven aground by poor navigation, storms, or strong currents. Notable losses include the Mohegan in 1898, one of the area’s worst maritime disasters.
For divers, the Manacles offers a mix of historic wreckage and dramatic reef diving. While many wrecks are now broken and scattered, artefacts such as boilers, plates and machinery can still be found among rocky gullies. Depths vary widely from around 5m to over 40m, making the area suitable for all experience levels. The site is also rich in marine life, with dense jewel anemone coverage, shoals of fish, and frequent sightings of crustaceans.
